The Rest of the Story

Or actually, it's the start of the story . . .

Before we went to Forks or La Push, we drove to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park.

As we were driving along, all of a sudden, right beside the road . . .

. . . we came across this little family of deer. Notice the spots on the first one - Bambi?

There was quite a bit of fog and clouds on the way up to the ridge, but when we got to the top, it was beautiful, and the Olympic Mountains were awesome. The clouds were just hanging on the top of the peaks, but you could still see the glaciers . . .

If you want to know what you're looking at, here's the description and identifier . . .

The clouds hanging over the peaks were so pretty -
And notice the deer bedded down in the meadow

There were more deer in the parking lot -
We got pretty close to them and they didn't even budge -
they must know they are safe here.
As we started the drive back down, we enjoyed the . . . .

Beautiful Meadows

Colorful Wildflowers

More Meadows

And the Pretty Clouds
We also noticed that something was happening to some of the trees - parts or all of the trees appeared to be dead or dying . . .

On closer examination, it looks like some type of moss that is hanging on the limbs of the tree . . . some of the trees were completely covered with this stuff, while other trees were unaffected. I'm always curious about why or how this happens, but didn't have the opportunity to ask anyone about it.
Close-Up of the "Moss"
As we got lower on the mountain, the clouds were getting thicker, until we could hardly see anything in the distance . . .

We left Olympic National Park and continued West on Hwy 101. Soon we came upon this gorgeous lake . . .

Crescent Lake
Was the lake formed by Glaciers? Or is this Indian Legend the true story?
You decide! Personally, I love Indian Legends!

In either case, it's a beautiful lake in a gorgeous area!

From there, we drove over to Forks and La Push . . . . And that's all there is for today.
